SUPADANCE NATIONAL FINALS

The finals took place at Camber Sands holiday village over the 1st weekend in November. Most of the best dance schools in the country were represented in what was a packed weekend. The parades of each school started on the Friday night with fun competitions taking place straight afterwards. The serious business started early Saturday morning and the competitions followed to the programme to the minute. The day was exceptionally busy with the 4 dance competitions for all age groups and team match semi finals. The semi finals and finals of the couple events took place on Saturday night when the Yeovil Dancenctre were well represented and took 1st place in the under 12 throuh Harriet Pitman & Summer Genes and 1st place in the under 16 through Gabrielle Nardiello & Naomi Genes.

The competitions carried on through to Sunday - which was again another very busy day (not finishing to late Sunday night).

The Yeovil Dancentre were represented in all age finals (except the 16 to 35) in all divisions.

Seen above are the Southern area winners for 1st & 2nd division in the under 12 catergory.

October Supadance Leg 4 team match

The last team match of the year (before the National Finals) took place at Frimley Green (the home of the World Dart Championships as well as the home of the Superdance Southern Area)took place on October 4th.

The Yeovil Dancentre teams performed exceptionally well with the following results:

Under 12 1st Division
1st Place Yeovil Eagles -
Under 12 2nd Division
1st Place Yeovil Falcons

Both these teams not only won the team match but are crowned Southern Champions for 2009!

Under 16 1st Division
1st Place Yeovil Eagles

Another fantastic result which although did not win them the league this year it has given them the runners up spot and a real chance of winning the National Finals in November.

Under 16 2nd Division
Yeovil Kestrels 3rd place
A very creditable performance and the highest placing they have received all year.

All Ladies 1st Division
2nd Place - Yeovil Eagles
Again a good performance giving the team 2nd in the league for the year.

Supadance Results Leg 3

At the September 2009 3rd leg the Yeovil Dancentre teams came away with some excellent results.

In the under 12 2nd Division the Yeovil Falcons once again came 1st - having won all 3 team matches to date they seam to be firm favourites to win the league

In the under 12 1st division the Yeovil Eagles also won which puts them back to the top of the league. As long as they win the one remaining leg they will again be crowned champions of the South of England.

The Yeovil Eagles under 16 team continued their improvement by taking the runners up spot to cement their second place in the league.

High School Musical Workshop

School holidays and what do you do with the children. Well quite a few parents were lucky because on Monday July 27th they sent them to the Yeovil Dancentre for the day where they learnt moves and dances from High School Musical, Hannah Montana, as well as doing some Strictly Come Dancing moves. During the day the children were split into groups with an appointed team leader and as well as dances they took part in a number of games. The dance centre was beautifully done up with posters and during the breaks or when the children were tired they were able to watch a High School Musical on one of the TV screens in the dance centre. All their parents (and children) are looking forward to the next workshop which will be in the October half term.

United Kingdom Alliance Premier Dance Festival

At the recent UKA National Medallists weekend held at the world famous Winter Gardens in Blackpool members of the Allen School of Dance - based at the Yeovil Dancentre on Pen Mill Trading Estate in Yeovil - achieved the following results:

34 1st places
21 2nd places
18 3rd places
and many more finalists.

The event was the largest ever held by the UKA and there were over 2000 entries from all over the country (including Scotland, Wales and Ireland as well as the rest of England).

It is a great credit to Yeovil and the Allen School of Dance that a small town like Yeovil can produce the most succesful dance school at a National Event the size of this.
